PGR_NTX Patriot Guard VERY SHORT NOTICE - KIA Sgt. John J. Savage - Escort Tomorrow, December 10, 2008

Mission Information For North Texas PGR mission at txpgr.org
Tue Dec 9 18:22:04 CST 2008

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Today the Department of Defense released notice of the death of Sgt. John J.
Savage of Mineral Wells. He was killed by an IED in Iraq on December 4,
2008. This afternoon his family requested that the PGR be involved in his
services and believed that Sgt. Savage would be returning to Mineral Wells
later this week. A short while ago we were informed that Sgt. Savage will
be arriving at the Mineral Wells airport at 12:15 PM tomorrow, December 10,
2008.

Plans are currently underway to obtain details and prepare a mission to meet
Sgt. Savage at the Mineral Wells airport and to provide a PGR escort for him
to the funeral home, the identity of which is also yet unknown to us. We
are also unaware at this time any details on the memorial service for Sgt.
Savage. We have been informed that there will be only a memorial service in
his honor and not a burial service, as he will be cremated.

I apologize for the short notice but you are finding out as I am finding
out. In the spirit of Semper Gumby we will adapt and ensure that Sgt.
Savage and his family are cared for in the best tradition of the PGR.
Please be on the lookout for an itinerary, at least for the airport part of
the mission, as soon as the information is known.

I thank you again for your usual outstanding support for our ongoing mission
to take care of people in their darkest hours. Those who can be will be
there physically. Those who cannot will be there in spirit and I am
confident that the family feels that presence. It, too, is a vital part of
each and every mission and I thank you for it.

Thank you for standing by. When I know, you'll know.

Steve Lucas

Deputy State Captain

North Texas PGR
