FINAL ITINERARY

Mr. Packard was a Sergeant First Class in the United State Army, serving in
three wars.  He was a career military man, retiring after 20 years in the
service.  According to his daughter, he described himself throughout his
life as a "soldier."  She said that he was the influence that led two of her
own children to currently being in the military and that he was a recipient
of the Purple Heart. 

 

 

Part 1 - Funeral:  Monday, December 29, 2008 - 11:00 AM

 

Staging - 9:45 AM; Briefing - 10:15 AM

We will set up our flag line and stand tall and silent as the family and
guests arrive for the service.  Once the service begins we will break down
the flag line and prepare to ride in the procession to the cemetery.

 

 

Part 2 - Escort:  Monday, December 29, 2008 - Following Funeral Service

 

Funeral Home to DFW National Cemetery.

 

Following the funeral service we will ride in the funeral procession from
the funeral home to DFW National Cemetery for the interment service.  It is
anticipated that standard escort procedures will be followed.  Any
exceptions will be briefed by the Ride Captain at the site.  

 

 

Part 3 - Interment Service:  Monday, December 29, 2008 - 1:00 PM

 

Staging:  Upon escort arrival at the cemetery.

On arrival at the cemetery, big flag bikes will remain at the visitor center
with the procession and remaining bikes will proceed to the area below
shelter A to assist with preparations for the service.  A short briefing may
be provided at that location.

 

For anyone who will not be able to attend Parts 1 and/or 2 of the service,
please be at the shelter area (shelter A) of the cemetery no later than
12:15 PM and ready to begin preparing the area for Mr. Packard's service as
soon as possible following the service immediately before his.

 

We will use the flags in storage at the shelter for this part of the
mission.

 

 

Weather:  Mostly clear with a high of 63 degrees.

 

The flag/water truck will be at both locations.

 

Iron horses if you can, cages are always welcome and appreciated.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall, silent, and with honor
and respect for this veteran and his family.
