Texas Army National Guard 
June 8, 2008

Unit 2-149th Aviation  Regiment is being deployed to Iraq for the first time. 
 The unit will be leaving their Armory in  Grand Prairie, TX on Sunday June 
8, 2008 for at least a  year.  The plan is for the PGR to  escort the men and 
women of this battle ready unit to Ft.  Sill, OK.  The North Texas PGR will 
take the escort  to Bowie, TX  where we will be relieved by the PGR unit from 
Wichita Falls, TX.  They will run the escort to Lawton,  OK and Ft. Sill.  Armory 
to Bowie, 87 miles; Armory to Ft. Sill, 191 miles. 
Part 1:  Sunday, June 8, 2008 
Staging 0645 (6:45 AM) 
The Shell Station on the Southwest corner of IH30 and N. Beltline Rd. in  
Grand  Prairie.  Approximate address is          925 N. Beltline Rd., Grand  
Prairie, TX 
Last chance to fuel prior to the  escort. 
Part 2:  0700 (7:00 AM)—Depart for  Armory 
Depart staging location for the Texas Army National Guard Armory.  1013

Part 3:  0750 (7:50 AM)—Convoy Departs  Armory 
Army support vehicles will depart the Armory for Ft. Sill.  The buses with 
the troops will depart at  0800          (8:00 AM).  Our plan is to escort the 
buses. 
Weather:  Chance of thunderstorms and a high of  89.  Bring your own water 
and stay  hydrated.  The support truck will not be there. 
Big flag bikes will be utilized  to lead the formation.  Once the  convoy 
gets on the highway, those of you with big flags may have to pull out of  the 
convoy to stow flags.  The convoy will not stop.  
The planned route is Lakecrest Dr. – Garrett  Dr. - North on SE 14th St - 
West on Jefferson - North Beltline - West on  Interstate 30 - North on 820 - 
North on I35W - North on 287 - to Bowie,  Texas.  In Bowie we are taking HWY 81 
North to Duncan Bypass in Duncan, OK,  turning West on Hwy 7 towards Lawton, OK, 
turning North on Interstate 44 to exit  40B into Ft Sill.  This is the route 
the military vehicles are going to  follow.
