Ladies and Gentlemen,
We have received an invitation from Soldier's Angels to ride with them in
the 37th Annual City of Richardson Christmas Parade. It is on Saturday,
December 6, 2008 at 9:00 AM. Their e-mail invitation says, in part:
"On December 6th, The City of Richardson will be holding their Annual
Christmas Parade. Soldiers' Angels has decided to participate. We will
have a decorated truck with our Soldiers' Angels Flags flying, lights, etc.
It is our hope that we can have more military presence at the parade. We
are inviting The PGR's to ride with us.
We have also invited the Paralyzed Veterans of America to participate. Some
of them will be riding in the back of the truck with us, others will be
pushed by volunteer high school ROTC students in formation.
It is our hope that we can have Soldiers' Angels go first, followed by our
Paralyzed Veterans, and then the PGR's to acknowledge our Fallen Heroes."
What makes this a non-mission mission is that we will not be assigning a
ride captain to this event and we are not classifying it as an official PGR
mission. (More info. about the parade itself can be found here -
http://www.cor.net/SantasParade.aspx?id=7900)
I need a volunteer to step up and be the point person, though, and contact
Soldier's Angels to determine where to stage and other such details. It
should be a good time with much cooler weather than those 4th of July
parades. If such a volunteer will drop me an e-mail at pgrlucas at charter.net
I will give you the name and phone number for our contact person at
Soldier's Angels. I will also be happy to post all of the relevant
information in this forum for all who would like to ride in the parade.
It's also a good chance to get to see Santa one-on-one and get your list in
early. Everyone would like to see a little new chrome and leather under the
tree this year, not to mention those fancy electric/heated jacket and pants
liners that Walter (Boats) loves so much.
When we have our point man/woman I'll let you know and we'll go from there.
Thanks, everyone.
Steve Lucas
Deputy State Captain
North Texas PGR
