FINAL ITINERARY

Mission Date; April 3, 2009

Mr. Smart was a Sergeant First Class in the United States Army Air Corps,
WWII, a flight engineer on B-17s and B-29s.  He was scheduled to be one of
the crew members of the 3rd bomber to drop an atomic bomb on Japan, but as
fate had it, the war ended soon after the 2nd bomb was dropped.  A true
American Hero of WWII.

Cemetery

This mission will consist of an interment service for Mr. Smart.  Big flag
bikes please assemble at the visitor center to escort the family and other
attendees to the shelter.  The shelter designation is not known at this
time.  Please check for the proper shelter upon arrival at the cemetery and
all other riders and PGR participants please then proceed to the proper
parking area below the shelter for parking and briefing.  We will use flags
stored at the shelter and set up as soon as possible following the service
prior to Mr. Smart's.

 

At the request of the family we have two big flag bike volunteers to ride
behind the hearse from Bluebonnet Funeral Home, 5725 Colleyville Boulevard,
Colleyville, TX (817-498-5894) to DFW National Cemetery.  The Hearse will
leave the Funeral home at 12:15pm to arrive at DFW at 1:15pm.  Please be
there by 11:45am.

 

 

Weather:  Forecast is for a sunny day with a high of 74 degrees.  

 

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall, silent, and with honor
and respect for this American patriot and his family.

 

Iron Horses if you can; cages are always welcome and appreciated.  Due to
the short time period of this mission the support truck will not be
requested.  Please make arrangements for your own water/sports drink(s) as
required.
