Patriot Guard Rider Gary Maddux, 63, of Farmersville, TX was born August 22,
1945 in Tulsa, OK. He worked as a diesel mechanic and was a member of
Teamsters Union 745 and Southwood Christian Church in Greenville, TX. Gary
was not only a member of the PGR but also of the Christian Motorcycle
Association. He served as a Sergeant in Vietnam in the United States Army.
Gary's final mission with the Patriot Guard was an escort of Medal of Honor
recipients from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport to Gainesville, TX.
Gary was near the front of the line proudly displaying his full size United
States flag from his motorcycle for all to see and we know that's how we'll
always remember him.

We will set up a flag line at the church to receive family members and
guests as they arrive for the service. Following the service we will join
the procession to DFW National Cemetery for the service there. If you can,
please plan to arrive at the church gassed up and ready to go. We do not
want to disturb the church service with the sound of motorcycles starting up
going to get gas while the funeral is in progress. In addition, riders may
want to attend the services and there will likely be little time to go and
gas up prior to leaving for the cemetery.
Part 2 - Interment Service: Tuesday, April 7, 2009 - 2:00 PM; DFW National
Cemetery
Staging - 1:15 PM; Briefing - 1:30 PM
DFW National Cemetery
2000 Mountain Creek Parkway
Dallas, TX 75211

Following the procession, big flag bikes will stay at the staging area at
the cemetery with the procession vehicles. The shelter assignment for the
service is not yet known. We will have to check on arrival. As soon as
that is known, all other PGR vehicles will move straight to the parking area
below that shelter to prepare for the service. PGR participants not in the
procession please plan on being at the parking area no later than 1:15 PM.
We will use flags at the shelter for the service there and we will prepare
for Gary's service as soon as the service before his is completed.
Weather: Forecast for Greenville is for sunny and a high of 63 degrees
after an overnight low of 31 degrees. Forecast for Dallas is for sunny and
clear with a high of 66 degrees after a morning low of 37 degrees.
Iron Horses if you can; cages are always welcome and appreciated.
The flag/water truck will be present.
Please remember that our mission is to stand tall, silent, and with honor
and respect for Gary and his family. We recognize that this is a very
difficult time for those of us who knew and rode with Gary. The best way we
can honor him and his family is to have as flawless a mission as we can.
For some it's a long ride to Greenville and it's a long ride from Greenville
to Dallas. We know that Gary and his family want us to be safe to ride
another day and to honor more people and to continue our mission. As we
know, this mission is about honoring Gary and his family and friends and we
can't do that if we aren't present, so we urge everyone to please be safe
and maybe even a little extra cautious on this trip in Gary's memory.
Respectfully Submitted,
Dewey "Diehard" Dyer
North Texas Ride Captain
Steve Lucas
North Texas Deputy State Captain
