FINAL ITINERARY
DFW Airport Airplane Send Off
Mission Date; April 8, 2009
Ride Captain:
Dewey "Diehard" Dyer, 214-316-8730 (c); dgd4758 at sbcglobal.net
As noted in the preliminary announcement, we have been invited to help send
this plane off to Iraq with care packages to the troops and children in
Iraq. Our good friend, fellow PGR member and Gold Star Father Alan Burks is
heading up this great project.
If you are planning on attending this mission, it is a requirement from the
airport that you send your name as is appears on your driver's license prior
to the mission. Please send this information to me at pgrlucas at charter.net
no later than 6:00 PM on Monday (April 6) if you are going to attend and I
will send them all to the airport together. We will be going behind
security, with flags in hand, for this send off.
There will be NO , NONE , ZERO firearms, knives, razor blades, bullets,
etc., allowed. NOTHING that you cannot normally go through airline security
carrying. There will be no exceptions. If TSA or airport police haul you
off the rest of us will just wave goodbye and go on with the mission, not to
mention the fact that you may have spoiled a mission that Alan has spent
over a year setting up. Leave it somewhere else. You're safe inside
security at the airport, and at least you have your flag pole for self
defense.
Part 1 - Airport Arrival: Wednesday, April 8, 2009 - 10:00 AM; American
Airlines
American Airlines Parking Garage
Terminal C, near Gate C9
Enter the airport using the toll gates. Enter the parking garage nearest
gate C9 and start looking for the flag truck. Park as close to the flag
truck as you can and we will assemble at the truck. We will get flags and
carry them UNFURLED into the airport to the ticket counter at C9 where we
will be met by an American Airlines representative. That representative
will have parking passes to hand out so we do not have to pay on the way out
of the airport. We will be taken to security and to the area designated for
the send off.
We will participate in whatever way requested for the ceremony and then
return to the flag truck. It's as easy as that.
Weather: Forecast is for mostly clear with a high of 81 degrees.
The flag/water truck will be present.
We all know of the trips we have made to the various airports to pick up our
military personnel and help them along the way to their final resting place.
This is a chance to go to the airport and, in a small way, send them
something they are needing and wanting and to put our personal best wishes
aboard an airplane that is going to see them, and to thank Alan for his hard
work in putting this together.
Respectfully Submitted,
Dewey "Diehard" Dyer
North Texas Ride Captain
