PGR_NTX Patriot Guard Confirmed Mission - May 5-6, 2009 - Honor Flight Escort

[Mission Information For North Texas PGR]

Ladies and Gentlemen,

 

The North Texas PGR and the Blue Knights have again been requested to escort
a bus load of World War II Veterans, our beloved members of the Greatest
Generation, to Love Field for their trip to Washington, DC to get to see
their World War II Memorial.  Honor Flight is again picking up the expenses
and due to the advancing age of most of these individuals it may be the only
opportunity they get to see this memorial.one that took so long to build as
others were built before it.  We will once again escort these worthy
veterans, both male and female, from Waxahachie to Love Field and then back
again the following night.  It is a wonderful sight to see the faces of
these people.  The looks of anticipation as they are anxiously waiting to go
and the looks of excitement, satisfaction and wonder as they return and
can't wait to tell everybody about their trip.  You can't help but celebrate
with them.  It's quite infectious.  Some almost missed the plane last year
because they wanted to thank us for coming to see them off.

 

For those of you who made the trip to Dallas from Waxahachie last time, I
must confess I was very reluctant to accept this mission again after the
"drag race" through Dallas traffic that we had last time.  I love and admire
WWII veterans with all my heart but no mission is worth that kind of danger.
Several conversations have been had with the organizers of this event
regarding that trip and more are planned.  Rick Crabb is the Ride Captain
this time and he has assured me that this trip will be nothing like the last
one.  Let me interject at this time that Mark and Wendy Ingersoll had
absolutely NOTHING to do with that last trip into Dallas being like it was.
None of that was their fault and they had done everything possible in their
planning to ensure our safety.  I have always had every confidence in both
of them and continue to do so.

 

We are scheduled to depart at 4:30 AM from the Waxahachie Civic Center to
Love Field on May 5 and the return flight is scheduled to land at 9:30 PM on
May 6 for the return escort from Love Field to Waxahachie.

 

A final itinerary will be posted when the exact details are worked out.

 

I can assure you that your safety is my primary concern, as it is Rick's,
and we are committed to seeing that this mission is not a repeat of last
year's trip into Dallas.  You have my promise that if we think that safety
will be compromised in any way, Rick and/or I will pull the plug on our
participation up to and including during the mission itself.  We will not be
playing "tag" with Dallas morning in-bound rush hour traffic again.
