Ladies and Gentlemen,

I, the other Deputy State Captains, the National Ride Captain and the
Regional Captain over the several states in our immediate area have just
been sent the following message by Texas State Captain George Raglin. I am
completely surprised by this message and had no inkling of any sort that it
was coming. I am sharing it with you in its entirety.

It is my hope, as I hope it is yours, that George will reconsider. Bill
told me of his plans last week and we spoke about it and I completely
understand his reasons for surrendering the tan hat. Even though I
understand them, I would hope, as well, that Bill would stay on.

I will say in this forum that I will gladly resign my position this day if
these men will remain in theirs. The PGR needs all of her experienced men
and women and I hope these will stay.

George's message is below.

Steve Lucas

Fellow riders,

I want to advise you that I will be stepping down as your State Captain
effective May 1st. When I took this position last August, I had planned on
serving a one year term, but personal issues require that I move my
retirement up to May 1st. It has been an honor serving you. The Deputy
State Captain position in Texas is usually the first contact point between
the families and the PGR so please continue the excellent work you have done
in your positions. When national selects a new State Captain, please give
him/her your full support.

I will continue to be a PGR member and you never know when you will see me
standing a flag line. I also will still be able to attend the Gathering of
the Guard at Koyote Ranch so look forward to seeing you there.

My assistant, Bill "Rotorhead" Holcomb has informed me that he will also be
stepping down at the end of April for personal reasons.

With your continued leadership the mission of the PGR in Texas will continue
and the men and women in uniform, our veterans and their families will
continue to be served.

Sincerely,

George Raglin
