Ladies and Gentlemen,
We had a wonderful day today at J&N Motorcycle Leather in Lake Worth at the
benefit and fund raiser put on for the North Texas Patriot Guard Riders by
James and Nancy Rhodes of J&N, the American Legion Riders and Born Again
Ministries. These folks and many others worked very hard for many weeks
putting this together and they deserve each of our personal thanks for their
hard work. Please remember that this was all their idea. The PGR had no
idea any of this was going on until they sprung it on us after the ball was
already rolling. These wonderful people not only donated their time and
effort but they provided beer, water and soft drinks and only asked for
donations in return, they bought trophies for the bike show (and there were
some GREAT bikes to see), they made trips to the sponsoring stops on the
poke.er.fun run and set up the activities at those locations, arranged for
vendors, several different raffles, display items, etc., and all to benefit
the PGR. It was just amazing.
I'm very sorry that more of you couldn't have come by, even for a few
minutes, today to thank our hosts and to see what they had put together for
us. We didn't wrap things up until about 5:00 PM but I know a lot of you
were busy with other plans. I know that James and Nancy would have loved to
have heard from you toward the end of last week, since they're only open
Thursday thru Sunday, and would have been glad to pass along your thanks to
the other sponsors. All of us in North Texas will benefit directly from all
of these people's efforts via the money they raised for us. With that money
we will be able to maintain the things we have been doing and be able to do
new things. We will be able to do our mission better than we have before,
to hopefully touch more families, include more riders and become better
every day at what we do.
Our hosts insisted that today's event begin with the North Texas PGR riding
down the street in formation in front of J&N. It was truly inspiring to see
people standing at the side of the road shouting and pumping their fists in
the air and knowing that they were doing that for the North Texas PGR.
Nancy was crying, being overwhelmed with emotion. I know you all wanted to
be a part of that. I know you all wanted to be a part of such a wonderful
event as this and wanted to stop by but just couldn't make it. And I know
that each of you want to thank these people for giving this great gift to us
because you know that each of us will benefit greatly from their kindness
and generosity.
You are all warm, kind and giving people or you wouldn't be in the PGR in
the first place. Please give James and Nancy a call at the store this week
and tell them thanks for everything they did and ask them to please pass
your thanks along to the others. They'll love to hear from you and they'll
pass your thanks along, to be sure. It'll really make their day and it's
something those who weren't able to stop by the event can do let them know
you appreciate them. Please remember that they only work Thursday thru
Sunday and their phone number at the store is 817-378-8004.
All of these folks love each of you. How about taking a minute and loving
them back just a little.
Thanks, everyone.
See you at the next mission.
Steve Lucas
