Ladies and Gentlemen,

Just a quick reminder to let you know of several events we have coming up or
in the planning stages in May.

We have, of course, our primary mission - which is to honor those who have
served in the uniform of our country or who have served our communities as
police officers, fire fighters or emergency medical first responders and
their families. This is a high honor that we all take very seriously and I
know we all consider a great privilege to do.

A quick note on the fund raiser/benefit held last Sunday at J&N Motorcycle
Leather. The community gathered together on our behalf in a big way and the
sponsors did a wonderful job. I would like to thank, once again, the
sponsors, the vendors, and everyone who had a part in hosting this for us.
Every time anybody counted the money (especially me!) we can up with a
different number so I took it to the bank and had their fancy machines count
it all up. When all was said and done the North Texas PGR was the recipient
of $3183.50. We have some expenses, of course, such as store merchandise,
challenge coins, raffle tickets and things like that, but we're still going
to be in the black by a good bit. Thank you, everyone.

We have a Vietnam Wall coming to Pilot Point (Denton County) next week and
communication is underway on how we might be able to help with that with
perhaps an escort into town.

We have the Honor Flight escort coming up on the 5th and 6th where the PGR
and the Blue Knights escort WWII Veterans from Waxahachie to Love Field for
a trip to Washington DC so they may see the memorial built for them. This
is provided for them at no cost by the Honor Flight organization and it you
weren't able to meet these great veterans last time you really missed a
treat. Rick Crabb will be leading us this time and I'm sure we'll be
getting a final itinerary on that very soon.

We have been invited to a brief ceremony for the employees of North Hills
Hospital (with free lunch following for all who want to participate) at noon
on the 7th for the National Day of Prayer. The military will be present as
well for this day, signed into law by President Truman. A final itinerary
for that will be coming out shortly.

Don't forget our monthly meet and greet on the 3rd Saturday. It's always
wonderfully planned by Wendy Ingersoll and will be at Stroker's in Dallas
this month. More details will be coming out on that as the big day nears.

On the 23rd we've been invited to come to the Hearthstone Assisted Living
Facility in Lewisville in a belated celebration of Armed Forces Week. (We
delayed it a week because of the Meet and Greet.) Just a short (1 hour)
visit to chat with the residents about their military history or whatever
they want to chat about. We and the residents can enjoy refreshments
together, have WWII era music playing and let them have photos made on a
bike if they wish. We will stage close by and ride in together so the
residents can enjoy the bikes, cages and flags. Looks like Lisa Wallace
will Captain this mission.

Our store has started and the fund raiser was a big success. Most
importantly, however, the missions are getting done. Many people who were
unaware of the mission of the PGR were informed and educated at the fund
raiser and a number of them were ready to sign up right on the spot. This
means more riders available to honor those who serve and have served and
their families. More opportunities to do more for these people in their
darkest days. More chances to show them how much the people of America care
for them. I feel truly fortunate to be able to have the opportunity to take
part in this and I'm sure you do, too.

Thank you all. You are the best, and you are needed more and more each day.
No one appreciates you more than I.

Steve Lucas

Deputy State Captain

North Texas PGR
