Ellis County Honor Flight
Mission Date May 5-6, 2009
We have again been requested by this group of Ellis County WW II Heroes and
their families to send them off and welcome them home after what is a very
significant event in their lives. The Honor Flights were formed
specifically to take WWII Veterans to Washington, DC to visit their
Memorial, as well as other monuments and places of interest in our Nation's
Capital. These flights, originating all over the United States, are
provided to these Heroes of our Greatest Generation at no cost to them. The
North Texas Patriot Guard Riders have again been asked to participate with
the Ellis County Honor Flight to accompany their bus from the Waxahachie
Civic Center to Dallas Love Field and return.
This will be a two-part Mission.
RIDE CAPTAIN: Rick Crabb (910) 330-9861
PART ONE - DEPARTURE Tuesday, May 5, 2009:
STAGING: Waxahachie Civic Center, 1950 N IH-35E, Waxahachie, (located at
the SE corner of IH-35E and US Hwy 287) at 0400 (4:00AM). The bus is
leaving at 0430 (4:30AM), taking the Veterans to Dallas Love Field.
For those who may want to ride down the night before, there are several
hotels in the area. The Super 8 is located a half mile south of the Civic
Center, at 400 N IH-35E, Waxahachie.
WEATHER: Temperature will be in the upper 50's with a 40% chance of rain,
please dress accordingly. Water and restroom facilities will be available
at the Civic Center and Airport terminal
PART TWO - RETURN FLIGHT Wednesday, May 6, 2009:
STAGING: Dallas Love Field, Arrival Terminal at 2115 (9:15 PM). The flight
is scheduled to arrive at 2155 (9:55PM).
WEATHER: Temperature will be in the mid 60's with a 40% chance of rain,
please dress accordingly. Water and restroom facilities will be available
at the Civic Center and Airport terminal.
Please join us as we ride to honor these WWII Veterans. This is an escort
Mission only, the flag truck will not be there. Four-way flashers or any
auxiliary lighting will remain OFF during the course of this Mission. The
Honor Flight organization has LEO support scheduled.
Iron Horses if you feel you can safely ride in tight formation at night,
cages are always welcome and appreciated. There will be NO Support Truck
needed for this Mission, as we will not be utilizing a Flag Line. It will
be our privilege on both parts of this Mission to assist these Heroes with
getting on and off the bus and - of course - to show them our appreciation
for their sacrifices for our freedom.
Any and all are welcome to join with us for either the ride up and back or
just to be there at the locations indicated for the send-off or arrival.
Respectfully submitted,
Rick Crabb
