PGR_NTX Patriot Guard HOTH Event This Saturday

[Mission Information For North Texas PGR]

Ladies and Gentlemen,

 

We have a HOTH event coming up this Saturday that I think many of us will
want to be involved in.  It is a kind of "Bucket List" wish for Army Captain
Stacey Franklin, a nurse who is currently on medical leave for terminal
cancer.  She wants to ride a Harley.  One of our members, Stephen "Flag Man"
VanHecke, and his wife have taken it upon themselves to put this wonderful
labor of love together and if I know the PGR folks in North Texas it's
something that all will want to support if they can.  Please remember that
we have the honor mission in Joshua earlier in the afternoon but I think
there may be time to do both if we have the wind at our backs.

 

I think that a Harley trike would certainly be a good thing to have at this
for Captain Franklin to ride on if one is available.

 

There is no ride captain assigned to this event.  As you can see, the
details have been worked out with great care already.  If things change I
will certainly let you know as soon as I can.  We have our honor mission for
Private Earl Lolley earlier on Saturday but multiple events in one day, or
even occurring at the same time, is certainly nothing new to us in North
Texas.  I know we will all do our best.

Flag Man here, if you remember, late last year (December 20th or so) my wife
and I were trying to get a ride together for this veteran who has terminal
cancer.
We would like to invite any and all of you that can make it, to come out and
ride a fairly short ride with us (as long as she can take it).
We have heard that we need to do this while she is still able.

 

The Veteran that we are attempting to do this for is:



Captain Stacey Franklin - US Army Nurse - Medical Leave
Diagnosed with lung cancer.
Her  husband is MSG (Ret.) Michael Franklin

 

The ride will be: 05/02/2009 at 17:00 (5:00PM)

 

Staging is at:

 

Mobile Gas Station on Ave. K in Plano.

We will be riding staggered, we will ride safe.

We will have NO road guards, nor will we have Police escort (that I am aware
of).

So, please, everyone be safe getting there and on the ride.

 

We will have a short meeting at the Gas Station for anyone that might have
questions etc.

16:00 - 17:00 assembly time

We will leave the Gas Station no sooner than 17:00 (5:00PM) and no hopefully
no later than 17:15 (5:15PM)

Right - Los Rios

to PESH (Plano East High School)

Left into the parking lot.

We will pick her up at PESH, so there will be a short break whilst we get
her on a bike or trike,

then off we go to:

Left - Los Rios (out of the parking lot)

Left 14th/FM544

Here we will turn around and return to PESH or if she is up to a bit longer
ride, we will continue:

 

Left - Murphy Rd/Hogge Dr (past Southfork Ranch)

Left - Parker Rd

Left - Los Rios

Back to PESH

 

There will be some JROTC Cadets from PESH (Plano East) gathered at some
point to salute her as we go by.

 

Would like to have multiple volunteers of bikes/trikes for her to choose
from and let her pick depending on how she is feeling.
