Ladies and Gentlemen,
With our own Homes for Our Troops escort mission coming up this week I
thought this was a great time to share a letter with you from Carole Durbin.
She is the mom of Sgt. Wesley Durbin. You may recall that we did a mission
for him after he and another soldier were killed by one of our own troops in
Iraq. Sgt. Durbin was also a former Marine and had enlisted in the Army to
see the war from that service as well. He was well known for visiting our
wounded in the hospital in theater and telling them the story of how he
single handedly took Fallujah with nothing more than his utensils from an
MRE. This was our first time being escorted by the Dallas Police Motorcycle
unit and they took us from Plano to DFW National Cemetery and shut down all
highways along the way.
Ms. Durbin's letter is below, along with a flyer and registration form for
the event to which she is referring. Please take a look and give it your
consideration. This family has given one of their own and they want to
continue giving. Anything that I could say pales in comparison to that.

My name is Carole Durbin and my son, Sgt. Wesley Durbin, was killed in Iraq
9/14/2008. Our family was privileged to have the Patriot Guard attend
Wesley's funeral.
So many people have offered comfort to us during these past months. Due to
this, we wanted to volunteer in some way and have volunteered to help with
the Homes For Troops organization. This organization is building homes for
severely disabled veterans at no cost to the veteran. Like the Patriot
Guard, this is an all volunteer organization.
Our other son, Kenny and his supervisor Clark Clement are organizing a
Bowling Tournament to raise funds. This tournament will take place at the
Plano Super Bowl in Plano, Texas on August 15, 2009. Please see attached
flyer for details.
I'm writing you in hopes that members of the Patriot Guard might like to
attend. It is such an inspiring sight to see your motorcycles with their
flags. We do believe it will make an impact on this event. The sight of
all of you at our son's funeral will be forever in my mind.
