Ladies and Gentlemen,

Below is a message that was forwarded to us that I'm sending along for anyone who might like to attend. This is FYI on behalf of a PGR member who is making an appeal for the benefit of a veteran and fellow motorcyclist. It is a series of e-mails so you might want to read from bottom to top.

Thanks.

Steve Lucas
Deputy State Captain
North Texas PGR

Greetings!!

I hope you can help.

My name is Steven Berrones. I ride with the Guard when I can. It’s always an honor for me whenever I do.

I received this from one of my employee’s; Jason Adams. It’s about his father-in-law Bob Spill who has terminal cancer and is very near death. Bob Spill is a Vietnam Vet AND a motorcycle rider from way back. Jason had asked if I could round up a few bikers’ to ride escort from his father-in-law’s home to the boat launch. Unfortunately, my scooter is still awaiting parts so I can’t help but if you can forward this. Maybe a few may show up.

Thanks

Primo

UPDATE!

Bob was interviewed by WFAA-TV Channel 8 (Dallas, TX) yesterday about his illness and his boat. The story is scheduled to air Monday, August 10, at 10:00 p.m. The story will be available at www.wfaa.com after the story airs on TV.

There is a possibility that a WFAA reporter and/or camera crew will attend Saturday’s boat launch. (See below.) If a camera crew is unable to make it, the reporter has requested still photos of the boat launch for possible inclusion in the news story scheduled to air Monday night.

Bob is looking forward to seeing those of you who can make it tomorrow morning! See you then!

We invite you to join us this Saturday, August 8, for the maiden voyage of Bob Spill’s handcrafted boat!

Yes, the boat Bob made by hand is ready for the water! (We think!) The boat launch will take place Saturday, August 8, 2009, at 9:30 a.m. at the Dove boat ramp on Grapevine Lake.

As many of you know, Bob has been diagnosed with bone cancer of the spine. Sadly, there is no cure. He is at home on hospice and requested that he see his boat in the water. His life journey is coming to an end; and we invite those who have traveled with him along the way, and anyone else who is able, to join him for the launch of his boat. There will be lifejackets and (hopefully) boat rides and fishing. We don’t plan to be at the lake long. Bob is very frail and weak but insisted that this take place.

Bob built his boat himself from scratch. The only thing he was unable to complete is the sail he was going to make himself. He made the oars himself, and he has a trolling motor.

We hope to see you all there. If you have questions, please call 817-994-1014 or 817-995-6390. If you are unable to make it and want to send a “thinking of you” message, feel free to do so at our email jmadams8 at juno.com or at Bob’s home address: 7441 Tunbridge Dr., North Richland Hills, TX 76180.

Thank you.
