PGR_NTX Patriot Guard Final Itinerary - SFC Alejandro Granado

This is the final itinerary for the Patriot Guard Riders mission to honor Sergeant First Class Alejandro Granado, III, 42, U.S. Army Special Forces, who was killed in action in Eastern Afghanistan on Sunday, August 2, 2009.   His family has requested that the Patriot Guard Riders be present at his service. The mission is a 'go' and all contacts have been made. 

Alejandro "Alex" Granado, III was born on July 24, 1967, in Ciudad Acuna, Mexico to Rosalinda and Alejandro Granado Jr. He graduated from Tatum High School in 1986 where he was a member of the track team for which he won a bronze medal at the state track meet. At age 18, adult responsibilities were upon Alex even before he graduated high school. Already married and with a child on the way, joining the military offered a steady and secure income. He saw a chance to travel in addition to job stability. His military career spanned 23 years, having served in Desert Storm in 1991, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom. His military education includes the Basic Airborne Course, Special Forces Intelligence Analyst Course, Special Operations Interdiction Course, Air Assault Course and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Course. His awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Valorous Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Southwest Asia Medal, Liberation of Kuwait Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, NATO Medal, Non Commissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Driver and Mechanic Ribbon, Mississippi War Medal. Alex also earned the Combat Infantry Badge, Air Assault Badge, Parachutist Badge, and the Special Forces Tab. 

Services: 3:30 PM, Monday, August 10th at St. William Catholic Church, 4008 N.W. Loop, Carthage, Texas 75633 (903-693-3766).  A graveside service with full military honors will follow in Tatum Cemetery, 540 S. Forest St., Tatum, Texas.

Staging Site and Time: 1:00 to 1:30 PM at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home, 1131 State Hwy 149 Carthage, Texas 75633 (903-694-2211). Riders' meeting will commence at 1:40 PM, KSU to escort SFC Granado to the church at 1:45 PM.  We should arrive at the church by 2:15, and will have the flag line in place by 2:30. All new members are requested to sign a PGR Release of Liability prior to the riders' safety meeting. Instructions regarding movement from the church to cemetery will be given by the Ride Captain.  Please remain flexible as to the requirements of the mission (SEMPER GUMBY).

Weather Report: 90 degrees with a chance of showers.  We will have water available, so remember to stay hydrated and bring rain gear, just in case.

ALL GROUPS, CLUBS, INDEPENDENTS, ETC. ARE WELCOME. The only prerequisite is RESPECT. Also remember, you do not have to ride a motorcycle to join in. The flag line is open to all who wish to participate.
