Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have received several messages regarding resolution to the
patch/decal/sticker/flag, etc., situation in Oklahoma and how it affects
riders, cagers, citizens, etc. I am going to paste those messages below,
starting with the one I received from our State Captain, which contains a
message to him from the OK State Captain.
Received this morning (below) from the Oklahoma State Captain, please share
it with your Members.
The Patch issue does not apply to Texas.
Ride safe,
Thanks,
Lou

Lou, we've pretty much resolved the issue. We're back to business as usual
(flags, banners, patches, stickers, etc., on back in - on any mission);
however the back patch is gone.
Respects,
Mike

Effective 13 Aug 09, the PGR back patch is not authorized for wear at
anytime in the State of Oklahoma. All other PGR paraphernalia may be
displayed during PGR missions and PGR-related activities.
Permanent/semi-permanent items, such as stickers & decals make be displayed
anytime on any item or vehicle (i.e, helmets, motorcycles, cages, etc.).
I received this message from North Texas Senior Ride Captain Sparky Cox in
Sherman.
Please direct all responses or questions to Mike Kittrell at

will not and cannot respond to your inquiries concerning this message.
Please send the following as a statewide message for Oklahoma.
The previous uniform & display policy for the PGR in Oklahoma is hereby
rescinded.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the way I understand this is that the large PGR back
patch that many of us wear is not authorized for wear at any time in
Oklahoma. Period. Other PGR items that we wear such as items on your vest,
hats, jackets, etc., are authorized only during missions or other PGR
related activities. I am NOT clear about the wearing of these items while
enroute to or from these activities and/or missions. Items such as bumper
stickers, helmet stickers, windshield banners or other types of permanent or
semi-permanent items are authorized for display at any time on any vehicle.
The flying of PGR flags, either large or small, is not specifically
addressed but I would guess that they should come off or be furled and/or
cased if possible.
This message is being issued by the Oklahoma Patriot Guard Riders and as
such we should respect it just as we would expect any other group of Patriot
Guard Riders to respect any request that Texas was to make. We now know
what the outcome of the situation is and can move forward with the missions.
Let's all stay safe, abide by their wishes and let nothing stand between the
PGR and the families who we may be able to help with our services.
Steve Lucas
Deputy State Captain
North Texas PGR
