The 3d Squadron 124th Cavalry is returning home to Wylie, Texas from Iraq.
Those PGR riders who were there to send these American Heroes off to War
will remember the people in the streets with flags and the community
participation. The PGR has been asked to participate in welcoming these men
and women home. This unit was deployed to Iraq in November of 2008 and will
be returning with all 150 men and women of their Unit. This will be a big
event! It will include a lot of dignitaries, an escort provided by LEO and
the Wylie Fire Department. The Fire Department will provide a "water cannon
arc" over the buses as they proceed along a parade route through Wylie to
the National Guard Armory. At this point, a short "Welcome Home" ceremony
will take place.
Part 1 - Escort: Tuesday, August 25th, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM

We will stage along the Bus route at Longhorn Harley Davidson in Grand
Prairie. This area will provide shade and shelter for the riders while
waiting on the bus convoy. There is also fuel and food adjacent to the
staging area. "Cookie" will be on hand at this location to provide cold
water and snacks. We will be in contact with the troops on the buses to
give us constant updates on their location. We will join the buses on I-20
east bound and provide an escort to Wylie. The LEO escort will pick us up
along the way. Due to the afternoon traffic this will be a tight formation
of riders. For safety reasons, I ask that those riders who do not feel they
can maintain a tight formation in heavy traffic please consider going
directly to the armory in Wylie. We will be in need of a large group of
riders to help in the setup preparation for the "Welcome Home Ceremony" and
greeting the families.

The reason for the wide range of the arrival times is due to the DFW
afternoon traffic and the buses arriving from El Paso, TX.
We will set up the flag line at the Armory and stand down until the buses
arrive. This stand down time will afford each rider a chance to walk around
and introduce themselves to the families. Honoring the families with a
"thank you" for their sacrifices is an opportunity we seldom have outside of
a final mission so please take the time to shake hands and let these family
members know that others appreciate the sacrifices they have made. We will
be in contact with the escort by phone so we will be notified as to when to
"man-the-flags". Remember that our mission is to stand tall and honor these
true American heroes, their families and their community.
Weather: Mostly clear, highs in the upper 90's. (HOT)
The flag/water truck will be at the Armory.
Iron horses if you can. Cages are always welcome and appreciated.
With warmer weather, please remember to properly hydrate (including the
night before) before any outdoor activity and to dress appropriately. Do
not hesitate to take a break at any time if you feel you need to get in the
shade or get indoors and always ask for help at any time. Also please do not
forget your sun screen.
Please remember that our mission is to stand tall, silent, and with honor
and respect for these true American Heroes and their families.
Respectfully Submitted,
Mike "Gunner" Lambert
John "Top" Kammerer
Floyd "FabFloyd" Kammerer
