PGR_NTX Patriot Guard You Matter - A Must Read

Mission Information For North Texas PGR mission at txpgr.org

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I just read a posting about a fallen PGR member from Louisiana. He was
killed while on his way home from a KIA mission. He was never a member of
the military.

I have taken advantage of this forum to try and reinforce to you, the PGR
riders, that you make a difference to the families and to the service
members themselves. I have lamented that I cannot do more to show you just
how much you mean, as it has been expressed to me personally by family
members and by members of the military. My limited ability to adequately
use the English language prevents me from communicating the love and
admiration these folks have for you and how much your very presence means to
them. I find myself frustrated by this shortcoming on my part and
continually wish I could do better.

Perhaps my prayers have been answered. Please read the posting below. I
think you'll see what I mean. A unit from Fort Polk has stepped up and
walked the walk. They are making a statement so loud that it should be
ringing clearly in the ears of all of you. Please listen, North Texas
Patriot Guard Riders.they are talking to you, too.

Stand tall, my friends. What you do is important and it is noticed and
appreciated.

THANK YOU!

Steve

Tissue Alert

Mike Bares a PGR member from the State of Louisiana was killed in a traffic
accident on Monday, January 26, 2009 as he was riding home from a KIA honor
mission in South Louisiana.

I received the following in an email from the mission Ride Captain.

James Davis
Dixie Region Captain

Proud Patriot Guard Rider
It Ain't Easy Bein' Me!

--------------------------------------
UPDATE - Mike Bares, 52, PGR Rider, Independence, LA, 31 Jan 09 - I just
wanted everyone to know ... one of the units at Fort Polk, LA, decided that
Mike, despite being non-prior-military, deserved something more because of
his service with the PGR. They applied for, and were granted, permission to
render military courtesies at his service. At their direction, Mike's
coffin will be draped with a US flag, and a detail of soldiers will perform
the flag folding ceremony at the conclusion of the services. A bugler will
also be provided. I know that Mike would be extremely humble and proud to
receive this honor.
If any of you ever wondered if your services go unnoticed or unappreciated
by our men and women in uniform - put that question to rest.

--------------------------------------

I am in awe that the military is doing this for a PGR member that never
served. It is unprecedented as far as I know. It just proves that what we do
on a daily basis as the PGR does make a difference.

Thank you all for your dedication and service to the PGR and its mission.

I read this from our Regional Captain, and had tears flowing.....If you ever
think that what we do does not matter, it does, it matters to the Men and
Women we Honor in the Military at every mission, whether it is a Welcome
Home, a Send-Off, a Veteran's Honor Mission, or a KIA's Honor
Mission........Our Military Hero's appreciate us as much as we love and
appreciate them....

This organization has taken on a meaning across the country and brought
Patriotism back to this country.

I am in awe of our military, and the extra mile they went to Honor one of
our own, who was not a veteran, but who in his own way, as a PGR member, did
what we do, and what we know is right, stood for our Fallen Hero's every
chance he got.......

I asked Sneaky for permission to re-post this here, I wanted to share this
with the other RC's and SC's, just so you all know we do make a difference
to our military men and women and their families.........
