Ladies and Gentlemen,

 

Below is a notice I just received from our HOTH coordinator Debbie Horton.
It has gone to us and other surrounding PGR areas.  We will not have a
formal mission for this but I know that all help will be appreciated.
Please read it carefully and encourage everyone to help that can.

There is a vet living at Lake Whitney who needs some help.  

 

Richard is a Viet Nam vet.  He worked as a fireman until he fell off a fire
truck and broke his back.  He is now disabled, living on social security and
disability.  He was married, but he and his wife divorced and she got the
house.  He already had a lot at Lake Whitney with a travel trailer on it so
he moved into that.  The problem is that the trailer sits in the sun, the
air conditioner can't keep up with the heat and, even if it could, he
couldn't afford the electric bill.   Two AMVETS Posts got together and did a
fundraiser to raise the money to build a cover over the trailer to shade it
from the sun.  One AMVETS member does that type of work for a living and has
volunteered to design the cover and get the material at cost.  He'll put the
cover up, but he needs some help.  They will be putting the cover up on
August 1st.  Food and water will be provided to the volunteers.  If any
members would like to help this veteran stay a little cooler, please have
