Sgt. Gregory Owens Jr. was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.  He died
July 20, 2009 in Wardak Province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when an
improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle, followed by an
attack from enemy forces using small arms and rocket-propelled grenade fire.
He was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 25th Field Artillery (STRIKE), 3rd
Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y

 

 

Part 1 - Arrival and Escort: Tuesday, July 28, 2009; NASJRB, Fort Worth, TX
to Restland Funeral Home, Dallas, TX

 

Staging - 11:00 AM   Briefing- 11:30 AM

 

Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Ft. Worth

Riders will stage in the parking lot adjacent to the main gate and receive
instructions regarding base access, staging for the plane, etc.  The base is
a secure federal area and firearms are not allowed.  You must have a helmet
and long pants with boots that cover the ankle.

 

 

Part 2 - Visitation:  Thursday, July 30, 2009; 6:00 - 8:00 PM, Restland
Funeral Home 

 

Staging - 5:30 PM

Part 3 - Funeral:  Friday, July 31, 2009; 12:30 PM, Restland Funeral Home

We will set up our flag line to stand tall and silent as the family and
guests arrive for the service. We will take a break during the service and
stand the flag line at the conclusion of the service. 

 

There will be no procession following the service.

 

 

Weather:        Tuesday - 92 degrees, T-Storms, 40% chance of precipitation

                        Thursday - 90 degrees, T-Storms, 30% chance of
precipitation

                        Friday - 90 degrees, T-Storms, 20% chance of
precipitation

 

The flag/ water truck will be at the visitation and the service. 

 

Iron horses if you can, cages are always welcome and appreciated. 

 

Please remember our mission is to stand tall and silent with honor and
respect for this Hero and his family.
