PGR_NTX Patriot Guard Confirmed Mission - Escort for Original Vietnam Moving Wall
Mission Information For North Texas PGR
mission at txpgr.org
Fri May 1 14:35:29 CDT 2009
Ladies and Gentlemen,
The North Texas Patriot Guard has been asked to escort the very first
Vietnam Wall replica ever created into Pilot Point, TX on Wednesday morning,
May 7, 2009. The staging area and time for staging have not yet been
determined. This will be scheduled when we know exactly where the truck and
personnel will be staying overnight prior to coming into Pilot Point. For
those not familiar with Pilot Point, it is located just Northeast of Denton
in Denton County. The wall is scheduled to arrive at the square in Pilot
Point at 8:30 AM so this will be an early morning ride for many. I have
pasted below a release from the organizers concerning this particular
soldier's memorial and web sites are included if you would like additional
information. I have also attached a document that includes the information
below and a schedule of events for Pilot Point and a list of items that the
local organizers are still looking for to help them with this event.
The organizers asked that I emphasize (since our mission e-mails go to a
diverse list of individuals) that all motorcycle organizations and groups
are invited to attend and participate in the escort, and cages are welcome
also. I would ask that PGR cages might want to decorate in an appropriate
patriotic manner if possible.
We have the National Day of Prayer ceremony at North Hills Hospital at noon
on May 7 also but with an 8:30 AM arrival time on the square in Pilot Point
this leaves us with ample time for a safe ride to North Richland Hills.
We must always keep in mind, however, that our primary mission is the honor
missions we may be asked to conduct. Those must always take precedence and
will continue to do so. Our focus has not changed and will not change. We
will continue to do these Help on the Home Front types of missions when we
can but never at the expense of an honor mission.
Thanks, everyone.
Message about the Wall is below.

About The Moving WallT
"IN HONOR OF THE MEN AND WOMEN OF THE ARMED FORCES
OF THE UNITED STATES WHO SERVED IN THE VIETNAM WAR.
THE NAMES OF THOSE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES AND OF
THOSE WHO REMAIN MISSING ARE INSCRIBED IN THE ORDER
THEY WERE TAKEN FROM US."
Preamble of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial
"The Moving WallT" is the half-size replica of the Washington, D.C. Vietnam
Veterans Memorial and has been touring the country for almost twenty-five
years. Vietnam Veteran John Devitt attended the 1982 Washington dedication,
where he felt the positive power of "The Wall." He vowed to share that
experience with those who did not have the opportunity to go to Washington.
John conceived the idea. John, Norris Shears, Gerry Haver and other Vietnam
Veteran volunteers built The Moving WallT. It went on display for the first
time at Tyler, Texas in October of 1984. The Moving WallT travels the USA,
from April through November, spending about a week at each site.
