Mission Date; May 24, 2009

Ride Captain:

Steve "Badger" Lucas; (940) 206-4196 (c); pgrlucas at charter.net

The North Texas PGR has been invited to come to the Broadway Plaza at
Westover Hills retirement community on Sunday, May 24, 2009 between 2:00 and
4:00 PM to visit with the veterans and other residents there and participate
in their Memorial Day celebration.

We will stage off site and ride in as a group with flags flying while the
residents are outside to welcome us. We will participate in a flag raising,
visit with the veterans, including both male and female veterans, including
an Iwo Jima veteran who is unable to travel to the Iwo Jima reunions held in
Wichita Falls each year.

At 3:00 PM a USO show will be held and we have all been invited to attend
the show. Refreshments will be served throughout and the entire event will
be over by 4:00 PM.

This is a 90 bed retirement facility with a 17 bed Alzheimer's unit. This
will be our second event this year where we will help bring Memorial Day to
veterans and others who cannot otherwise get out to other Memorial Day
events.

We will stage in the lower parking lot of the church, located at the corner
of Pershing and Westridge. This is only a few blocks from Broadway Plaza at
Westover Hills. We need as many flag bikes as possible for this mission as
we try to enhance the patriotic spirit of all during this Memorial Day
weekend. We will visit with the residents and speak with the veterans and
others about their experiences and we are then invited to attend the USO
show.

Weather: Forecast is for a 30% chance of isolated thunderstorms and a high
of 81 degrees.

With warmer weather beginning, please remember to properly hydrate
(including the night before) before any outdoor activity and to dress
appropriately. Do not hesitate to take a break at any time if you feel you
need to get in the shade or get indoors and always ask for help at any time.
Also, please don't forget your sun screen.

The flag/water truck will not be present during this mission.

Respectfully Submitted,

Steve "Badger" Lucas

North Texas Deputy State Captain
