Ladies and Gentlemen,
The mission for the dedication of the new Vietnam Wall at Camp Holloway is
being run by Kelly Evinger from Abilene. Those who were there for the
placing of the Huey Helicopter and the dedication of the wall with the camp
names on it know what a wonderful place it is and how much work is going
into making it a first class location and attraction.
Information on this weekend's event from Kelly is below. Anyone available
to attend is most certainly encouraged to do so. I know you'll be glad you
did.
Thank you everyone.
Steve Lucas
Deputy State Captain
North Texas PGR
The dedication of the new wall at the Vietnam Memorial Park in Mineral Wells
will take place on Saturday May 30, 2009. The PGR is to arrive at the front
entrance to the park promptly at 10:30. We will follow the road past the
tent to the large oak tree West of the tent where reserved parking will be
set-up. Flag and/or support vehicles need to be parked at the tree and ready
to distribute flags prior to the arrival of the bikes. On arrival, riders
should dismount quickly and, with a flag, move to set a flag line between
the road and the tent. There will be a parachute drop promptly at 10:45 and
all needs to be in place by that time.
Abilene riders need to meet at the 7-11 on Hwy 351 across from the new
Walmart at 6:30am. KSU will be at 7:00am promptly so come gassed and ready
to ride. Some members of the local HOG chapter will ride with us. We will
meet with the PGR group from the Breckenridge/Eastland/Ranger area at the
L&L restaurant in Breckenridge for a quick breakfast, departing no later
than 9:00am. Staging in Mineral Wells, for all groups, will be at the
Walmart on the East side of town at 10am. There will be a police escort from
Walmart to the Park. Those of you who were there for the raising of the Huey
will remember we staged at the discount mall which is not available for this
event, leaving the Walmart as the best available option.
Those that were at the raising of the Huey will tell you that it was a
special event. There was even another Huey that flew in and those that
served in Vietnam were allowed to write their name, date of service, etc in
the Huey. The dedication of the new wall promises to be as special and it is
an honor for us to be invited to participate.
