We will participate in the procession from the funeral home to DFW National
Cemetery. We will have 2 motor escorts to lead us as well as Lewisville PD
to help us out of Lewisville. The exact time of departure from the funeral
home has not been determined so please remain flexible and ready to go at
any time.

On arrival at the cemetery big flag bikes will remain with the procession
and the rest of the riders will proceed to the shelter staging area. The
shelter designation is unknown at this time. Those not participating in the
escort please plan to arrive at the cemetery no later than 12:30 PM. We
will use the flags in storage at the shelter.

Please be aware of the possibility of blocked entrances to the cemetery. An
entrance that we believe will always be open is the one near the
administration building on Mountain Creek Parkway about half way up the
hill, approaching Spur 408 and Loop 12. The Map in this document shows that
entrance and not the main entrance we are used to - just in case.

Note: Please remember that our parking area is now on the main road between
shelters A and B. Funerals are being staged at the administration building
and in the area by the lake. We will park facing up the hill toward shelter
A with 2 bikes side by side as close to the curb and each other as possible
so that traffic can get by. This arrangement keeps the motorcycle and voice
noise to a minimum around the shelters during the services and appears to
meet the needs of the cemetery. We will assemble in this area and not
around the shelters until it is time to move to the shelter to set up for
the service. Exceptions to this parking arrangement are, as always, made
for those who have trouble walking to the area.

Weather:

Forecast for Saturday: Partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 40s. East winds
around 5 mph.

Forecast for Sunday: Sunny. Highs in the lower 70s. Southeast winds 5 to
10 mph.

Forecast for Monday: Mostly clear. Lows in the mid 50s. Highs in the mid
70s.

The flag/water truck will not be present on Saturday but will be present on
Sunday and Monday.

Safety First: With the cooler weather please remember to dress and ride
accordingly.

Special Safety Note: For those participating in the airport arrival portion
of the mission:

This portion of the mission will be conducted primarily after dark.
Reflective clothing is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED during this time. Those who
purchased the memorial reflective belts in honor of North Texas Patriot
Guard Rider Gary Maddux should consider wearing at least these and everyone
should please consider wearing your other reflective clothing. Remember
that Gary was killed while riding at night and that is the reason that the
reflective belt was chosen in his honor. At the present time reflective
clothing is not required for night or poor visibility riding in the North
Texas PGR but please be aware of safety at all times. At no time do we want
to create a mission during a mission or jeopardize the safety of any rider.
The family members of this Marine are sorrowful enough over the loss of
their loved one during this time. We certainly would not want to add to
their burden with an accident or injury to a rider when it might have been
prevented. This particular part of this particular mission involves riding
at night, including getting home after the mission, during Texas/OU weekend.
We would be doing ourselves and each other a disservice if we didn’t
recognize that fact and account for it as best we can.

Iron horses if you can, cages are always welcome and appreciated. All
groups and riders are welcome to ride with us and stand the flag line as we
honor this Marine.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall, silent, and with honor
and respect for this veteran and his family.

Respectfully Submitted,

Floyd “1st Shirt” Kammerer

North Texas Ride Captain

Dewey “Diehard” Dyer

North Texas Assistant Deputy State Captain
