Funeral Services will be held at the Marshall & Marshall Funeral; Home (201 N Bosque St, Whitney, TX) at 1000 on Friday, 23 Oct 09. PVT Patterson was home on a two-week leave from Iraq when suffered an apparent gunshot wound to his chest at his home in Blum, located about 40 miles north of Waco. He was pronounced dead early Saturday morning. Private Patterson was assigned to the Army's 1st Armored Division at Fort Bliss, Texas.

To facilitate this request we will be holding three staging along the route from Killeen to Whitney, TX. They are as follows:

WX: Mostly sunny, with a high near 71. North northwest wind between 10 and 20 mph.

Notes:

1. Please arrive at staging hydrated and fed. Fuel is available, so ensure you are topped off. Bring water, dress appropriately for the weather and be prepared for any possible changes in the weather.

2. Upon arrival at the Funeral Home we will establish a flag line. We have been informed we will probably park on the grass, so please bring something to place under your kickstand.

3. Immediately following the Memorial Service we will participate in the procession to the cemetery which is located approximately 15 miles away. The side road leading to the cemetery has many potholes and was very muddy and slippery on the day of the recon (21 Oct). A determination for the safety of our riders will be made Friday morning as to whether we will participate all the way to the cemetery or depart the procession where the paved roads end. If we are able to continue to the cemetery, you will need something to place under your kickstands here too.

Please let us come out in full force to honor this Active Duty Warrior who lost his life too soon.
