Private Second Class Damion Reese Turner, United States Army, age 28, passed away on Sept. 17, 2009 from injuries sustained in what is being called a random shooting while driving his vehicle just outside Hunter Army Airfield at Fort Stewart, Savannah, GA. He was born on Jan.19,1981 in Corsicana, TX. He was raised by his grandmother, Alma Reese, in Corsicana and graduated from Corsicana High School in 1999. He spent a lot of his time guiding troubled children by coaching basketball at a Corsicana Boys & Girls club. He worked tirelessly to provide support for his family and community. Just less than two years ago, Damion found himself with his family gathered around the dinner table discussing how they would leave their legacy - that's when he decided to join the Army. Damion is survived by his parents, Michelle and James Turner; grandmother Alma Reese; and numerous aunts, uncles and other relatives.
