Below is a mission for the Uncle of our Senior Ride Captain in Wichita
Falls.

The family of Truitt Howard has asked that the Patriot Guard participate in
his funeral services. Truitt served in the United States Merchant Marine
from July 10, 1945 till October 24, 1945 and joined the United States Army
on October 25,1945, the day after being discharged from the Merchant
Marines. Truitt was a radio operator in the European Theatre and earned the
expert pistol badge, the WWII Victory Medal, and the Army Occupation Medal
(Germany) before being discharged on the 18th of March ,1949. Although
Truitt attained the rank of Sergeant during his service he was discharged as
a Private First Class, due to him being as he put it, a "rounder back then".
After the armistice Truitt, remained in Germany and was one of the radio
operators that broadcast the Nuremberg War Crimes Trials back to the United
States. He is survived by three daughters and one son and several
grandchildren and was the uncle of PGR member Mike (weldermike) Johnson.
