Obituary: Donald Cameron Clifton, 58, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at home, after a short battle with cancer. Born in Detroit, Michigan, on March 15, 1952, Donnie got to Texas as quick as he could. He loved life, people, and all that nature had to offer. From fishing the lakes & reservoirs of Texas, to hunting snakes and snaring coyotes; from shooting contests in the yard to drinking beer with his friends; from pulling practical jokes to telling tall tales, Donnie?s sense of humor and zest for life touched everyone he encountered. He gave 100% at every job he performed, regardless of extreme weather conditions and possible injury to himself. For 35 years, he worked as an OTR Tire man on heavy equipment. He also ran a tire business from his home, worked at Austin Powder, and drove a truck for Sandy Hill Redi-Mix. Donnie was a proud American, volunteering for the US Army at the age of 17, and serving in the 1st Cavalry Division during the Vietnam War. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, and served as Vice Commander at the former Chico VFW. Donnie was devoted to his wife, Lynne, and was extremely proud of his son, Cameron. In his last months of his life, he enjoyed the simple pleasures of friends, family and nature. Donnie was preceded in death by his brother, David Dean Clifton, and his faithful dog, Lucy. He is survived by his wife, Lynne Condon Clifton; son, Cameron Dale Clifton; parents, Helen and E.G. (Ted) Clifton; brother, Richard Clifton; sister, Nancy Harris and husband Jody, sister Janet Clifton; mother and father-in-law Robert and Dorothy Condon, brother-in-law Brian Condon, sister-in-law Carol Riley, several nieces and nephews; and more friends than can be counted. Weather Forecast: (Check Our WEB Calendar For The Latest Forecasts) Weather will be hot and sunny. Comments: - Iron horses if you can, cages are always welcome and appreciated. - Safety First: With warmer weather, please remember to properly hydrate (including the night before) before any outdoor activity and to dress appropriately. Do not hesitate to take a break at any time if you feel you need to get in the shade or get indoors and always ask for help at any time. Also please do not forget your sun screen. - Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for this patriot and their family. - Please remember that our parking area is now on the main road between shelters A and B. Funerals are being staged at the Administration building and in the area by the lake. We will park facing up the hill toward shelter A with 2 bikes side by side as close to the curb and each other as possible so that traffic can get by. This arrangement keeps the motorcycle and voice noise to a minimum around the shelters during the services and appears to meet the needs of the cemetery. We will assemble in this area and not around the shelters until it is time to move to the shelter to set up for the service. Exceptions to this parking arrangement are, as always, made for those who have difficulty walking. As we arrive at the Cemetery please be aware that the speed limit is 15 mph and noise should be kept at a minimum. Thank you. Remember that when we pass bottled water around to you while standing the flag line, PLEASE accept and drink. Once you realize that your thirsty,it's already too late.At that point it's very difficult to impossible to catch up on hydrating out in the heat.If one of us goes down because we didn't do our part to stay hydrated, we then become the center of attention.
