Curtis Daniel Miller of Palacios, Texas, will be buried on March 29 in the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery. Miller was part of a 14-man aircrew, all of which are now accounted-for. Remains that could not be individually identified are included in a group that will be buried together in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va. On March 29, 1972, 14 men were aboard an AC-130A Spectre gunship that took off from Ubon Royal Thai Air Force Base, Thailand, on an armed reconnaissance mission over southern Laos. The aircraft was struck by an enemy surface-to-air missile and crashed. Search and rescue efforts were stopped after a few days due to heavy enemy activity in the area. In 1986, joint U.S.- Lao People's Democratic Republic teams, lead by the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC), surveyed and excavated the crash site in Savannakhet Province, Laos. The team recovered human remains and other evidence including two identification tags, life support items and aircraft wreckage. From 1986 to 1988, the remains were identified as those of nine men from this crew. Between 2005 and 2006, joint teams resurveyed the crash site and excavated it twice. The teams found more human remains, personal effects and crew-related equipment. As a result, JPAC identified the other crewmen using forensic identification tools, circumstantial evidence, mitochondrial DNA and dental comparisons. As a result, JPAC identified the other crewmen using forensic identification tools, circumstantial evidence, DNA and dental comparisons. PART 1: Stage at Biggers Funeral Home to escort Maj. Funerals are being staged at the Administration building and in the area by the lake. We will park facing up the hill toward shelter A with 2 bikes side by side as close to the curb and each other as possible so that traffic can get by. This arrangement keeps the motorcycle and voice noise to a minimum around the shelters during the services and appears to meet the needs of the cemetery. We will assemble in this area and not around the shelters until it is time to move to the shelter to set up for the service. Exceptions to this parking arrangement are, as always, made for those who have difficulty walking. Millers Visitation Obituary: Air Force Maj. PART 1: Stand the Flag line for Maj. They will be bringing SPC Hill in by coach, overland from San Antonio. They are leaving San Antonioe around 8AM. We will intercept and escort SPC Hill to the New Hope Funeral Home in Mesquite. We will intercept in Waxahatchie. Staging point will by a Shell Convenience Store at exit 399A (going south on I-35E @ S. Rogers Rd. Exit). As always, this is a SEMPER GUMBY mission. If they do not stop in route there is a possibility that they could be early. As in past experience, I would suggest being early at the staging point. Upon interception, we will escort the coach to the funeral home. Due to the high speeds and predicted high winds forecasted, we will not run big flags. There will be no LEO for this portion of mission. Staging Address For Part 1: Shell Convenience Store I 35E @ S. Rogers Rd.
