<p class=MsoNormal>Ladies and Gentlemen,<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>The PGR has been asked to participate in an escort to take a
bus load of WWII veterans from the Waxahachie civic center to Love Field very
early Tuesday morning. The organization “Honor Flight” will
be flying these veterans free of charge to Washington DC to visit the WWII
memorial and see a couple of other things in Washington. Honor Flight’s
mission is to get as many of the WWII veterans to Washington to see their
memorial as possible before they are all gone forever. It took over 60
years for the members of The Greatest Generation to have their memorial built
and many are now too old and ill to make the trip and Honor Flight’s
mission is to take these people to see it. The entire trip is free to the
veterans and paid for entirely by donations.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Here’s where the famous PGR dedication to veterans
comes in. The bus carrying these veterans is scheduled to leave
Waxahachie at 4:25 AM on Tuesday morning. We have also been asked to
escort on the return trip from Love Field back to Waxahachie on Wednesday.
That flight gets in to Love Field at 10:55 PM on Wednesday night. No
typos – those are the correct times.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Please forgive me for being a bit blunt here, but I’m
going to be. With the rate at which WWII veterans are dying,
approximately 1500 to 2000 a day, there is a real chance that most of us may
not get to do something tangible for a WWII veteran other than attend their
funeral. These people are in their 80’s and above.
Personally, I relish the opportunity.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>I am including here a couple of links. One is to an 8
minute video of an actual Honor Flight mission taking WWII veterans to DC to
visit the memorial so you can see what one looks like. I think you’ll
enjoy it and see what this organization does and then impact it has on the
veterans. It is: <a href="http://www.ohiowarstories.org/wp/?p=29">http://www.ohiowarstories.org/wp/?p=29</a>
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>The other is the Honor Flight home page. It is: <a
href="http://www.honorflight.org/">http://www.honorflight.org/</a> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Mark and Wendy Ignersoll will be the Ride Captains for this
mission and will be posting a final itinerary shortly. We will be joining
the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcyclists for this mission. I hope
to see you there.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Sorry for the long post but since this is an unusual sort of
mission for us I thought I’d take a little extra space to explain what it’s
about.<o:p></o:p></p>
