Munden was assigned to the 2<sup>nd</sup> Battalion, 506<sup>th</sup> Infantry
Regiment, 4<sup>th</sup> Brigade Combat Team, 101<sup>st</sup> Airborne
Division (Air Assault) out of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. He was a Bronze
Star recipient and a very highly decorated soldier. He joined the Army in
August of 1991, and continuously volunteered for Special Forces assignments.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoBodyText><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-weight:normal'><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoBodyText><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-weight:normal'>SFC
Munden was on his sixth tour of duty when he was killed. His base, FOB
Tillman in Paktika Province, Afghanistan, was attacked by insurgents. He
died February 16<sup>th</sup> 2009. SFC Munden was three weeks away from
the completing his tour, after which he was looking forward to becoming an
instructor at West Point.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class=MsoBodyText><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-weight:normal'>He
leaves behind his wife Kelly, sons Gaven and Garrett, daughters Sydney and
Kailey, mother Billie Clark and her husband Dwaine, brother Brad Munden, father
Ralph Munden, grandmother Sybil Gowin and scores of aunts, uncles, nieces,
nephews, and cousins.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
