As you have seen in the e-mail traffic, Steve Lucas has
decided to step down as Deputy State Captain. Steve has been there to help each
of us; his dedication to duty has been nothing short of exemplary. His
unwavering commitment to a higher standard of excellence has been a shining
example to us all. His loyalty and perseverance have been the guiding hand
behind the North Texas Patriot Guard for the last year. His management
skills, communication and direction have shown the way for the North Texas PGR
to be accepted and appreciated within the community. Steve has agreed to
lend his expertise to the NTPGR and serve in a new capacity as Chief Ride
Captain. He will be keeping all the Ride Captains abreast of any changes
or updates and will also serve as the liaison person on
my behalf with major events such as Snowball
Express, Medal of Honor, etc., and perform any tasks usually associated with a
position of Chief Ride Captain. I have many duties in store for him and I
ask that everyone give him your full support because I know he will continue to
give his full support to the PGR.

After several discussions with State Captain Lou Freitas and
others, I have accepted the Deputy State Captain position. It isn’t
difficult to recognize the fact that I will be following a strong leader and
that I will have a big set of shoes to fill. No one likes to be the
follow up to a premier act, however I feel confident that with help from Steve,
Lou, the Ride Captains and the expertise within the ranks of the membership we
can do this job. I am not saying that I won’t stumble along the way
but with your help I promise I will pick myself up, dust myself off and go again.

One major determining factor in my accepting this position
is that each time I have thought the Patriot Guard could not do better, you
have stepped up and raised the bar. I am extremely proud each time I
stand a flag line with you. Each one of you are the Patriot
Guard and it is an honor to be associated with you.

I am here to serve each of you. If you feel something
is not working or you feel there is a problem, write it down. Also write
what you think the answer would be and get it to me. If I don’t know it’s
broke I can’t fix it!

can only work when we all pull in the same direction.

I look forward to helping each of you honor the veteran<span
